what droid does

So far, I know four other people who have invested in Verizon’s new Droid, and I think we’re all in love with it. It’s kind of like when people first got iPods. It’s like an exclusive club.

But I’m having a hard time figuring out which Applications to download so that I can make the most of my Android experience. Yes, you iPhone users are so lucky. You’ve got more apps than us, and iPhones are definitely more my design style, but hellllllo, you’re stuck with AT&T and I’ve got the Network behind me. So I win.

However! Considering I just discovered that the little rectangle on the right side of the keyboard is actually a MOUSE with an enter button in the center, I think we all have a lot of learning to do.

And therefore, I’m making a list of Apps that I’m using, should other Droid users find themselves in similar conundrum of not really knowing what to download, or how to use the damn thing.

  1. AK Notepad – very necessary for jotting down notes. It autosaves.
  2. Backgrounds – for changing your background appearance according to your mood.
  3. Droid Light! – a flashlight! Neato!
  4. FxCamera – definitely my favorite app. It’s a camera program that takes “Polaroids” and has Toy Cam, Symmetricam, and Warhol cam settings.
  5. Seattle Bus Finder Lite – I love this app because it shows you exactly where the bus is on a map. So instead of having to look at the schedule and guess at how long it will take to get from th  listed stop to my stop, I can just look at a map and see where they are, and how close I am. So neat. My friend Heather and I are of different minds on this app – she prefers the other version, but I’m sticking to this.
  6. Shazam – music recognition software. A must, although I’ve only used it three times.
  7. Happy Hours – obviously a fave.

Well, I’m tired of this already. But it’s a start.
