We are about three weeks behind on our New Roots Organics bin and in serious danger of our veggies go to waste. We’ve had to let go of a bunch of greens and our strawberries have to be eaten tonight or ELSE. I’ve been so busy lately (more on that later) that our weekly menu […]

food lover’s cleanse: day 4

January 12, 2012

“IT’S ONLY DAY 4!” I wailed to Heather as I walked in the house this evening after being SO GOOD and not eating any of the delicious food that was served in each office at the Tour de Vance open house tonight. I was SO GOOD! I only drank water and I skipped the bites […]

food lover’s cleanse: day 2

January 11, 2012

I think I should make it clear (or more clear) that this cleanse isn’t really about CLEANSING. It’s not like a juice fast or something that involves a supplement. It’s for people who like to cook and who want to phase out of all the dairy and carbohydrates that accompany the holidays. It’s also about […]

seattle life, lately

December 13, 2011

Here’s a few photos of life in Seattle this December. It’s actually been a rather lovely holiday season, thanks in large part to the fact that I’ve been forced to get in the holiday spirit because of an event I’ve been organizing (photos from that are up next). On Monday we hosted the EPIP Seattle steering committee for a potluck in which we made Spicy Dr. Pepper Shredded Pork  Tacos  and a fresh spinach and feta salad. The guests heeded my plea to bring something other than just wine or a dessert […]

croxetti & pumpkin poppers

November 4, 2011

I picked up a bag of Croxetti (pasta coins) at Eataly when I was in New York – not even the most unusual pasta in the pasta section but definitely the first to catch my eye. They are about the size of a silver dollar, with individual imprints on each one. The bag cost me […]

summer eats (beets!)

July 8, 2010

I am pretty sure that I can and will be surviving off of tomato, red onion, feta and avocado salads this summer, topped with EVOO and balsamic. Seriously. And mangoes. I thought I was allergic to mangoes because they made my tongue kind of swells up… but it turns out that’s papaya. I’m not sure my […]

dinner

Holy fresh produce deliciousness on my table and now, in my stomach. Clockwise: A roasted beet salad with fennel, red onions, oranges, a balsamic vinaigrette and feta cheese on top. YUM. Apple, strawberry, Valencia orange fruit salad. Mmmm. Steamed broccoli topped with cheddar cheese. FRESH. Can’t wait to tackle kale, artichokes, carrots, and new red potatoes.
